Helios Fused Glass -Austin, Texas

Go Fly a Kite!

New Class!

This is a NEW class for 2008! Building on the success of our Leaded Stained Glass with Fused Components class we've added another course that combines cold and warm glass.

In this class, students will design and build a glass kite that can hang from a ceiling or vertically against a window. Glass for the kite will be created in the classroom of Helios Kiln Glass Studio where students will learn basic warm glass techniques.

Once students have created the glass to be used in the kites, they'll put them together in the Artisan Stained Glass classroom. During this part of the project, students will learn how to work exclusively with zinc - no lead in this project!

Please note that because this class is collaborative with Artisan Stained Glass that some class policies are a bit different:

  • Tuition must be paid at the time of registration, and is non-refundable, unless class is canceled.
  • Class will be canceled if the minimum enrollment of 4 students is not achieved.
  • Firing schedules will not be taught in this class - we'll handle this part for you. You are welcome to stay after class to ask questions regarding firing schedules.
  • Stained glass tools and supplies are the responsibility of the student and are not included in the tuition. All tools and supplies will be available for purchase.
  • Students receive a 10% discount on all tools and supplies while class is in progress (for the duration of the course).
  • Dress code - long pants, closed-toe shoes, and safety glasses. As always, if you have an apron, wear it! It helps keep glass and other materials off your clothing.

Includes: •  10 hours instruction & work time
•  All kiln firings
•  Unlimited free "studio-time" for class projects

Class Size: • 8 students (max)

Tuition: • $185
