The Perfect Edge: Basic Coldworking
Gallery-quality glass art starts with exceptional coldworking.
Crisp, finished edges and smooth polished surfaces can turn an average piece of fused glass into an exceptional piece of art.
You'll learn all the basics of finishing glass edges - from grinding to shape to polishing to an optical shine - in the most
well-equipped coldworking studio in Texas.
This class teaches both hand finishing without power tools as well as how to use the flat grinders (both diamond and grit), the vertical
wet belt sander, the sandblaster and more. We will also cover loose grit finishing - the only way to coldwork the inside curves of bowls and
other slumped surfaces.
If you are looking to take your kilnformed glass to the next level, this is the class for you.
Students are encouraged to bring in several of their own pieces to work on during this class.
